Key Responsibilities

The Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers nursing care to designated patients under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other designated supervisor. The LPN is responsible for collecting data through observation and communicating relevant information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning. As a vital member of the healthcare team, the LPN adheres to the patient care plan and the organization's policies and procedures, while embodying the principles of relationship-based care. The LPN demonstrates exceptional communication skills, excels in mentoring and instructing others, and may engage in committees or projects, including quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an accredited practical nursing program or have passed the LPN Boards after completing a specified duration in a professional nursing curriculum. If graduation occurred more than two years ago, at least one year of relevant LPN experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of LPN experience within the last five years is preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Experience in a collaborative team environment is advantageous. Proficiency in computer skills is required, with prior experience in electronic medical record systems being a plus. Flexibility to work daytime hours may be necessary to meet staffing requirements. The ability to adapt to unexpected situations in the workplace is crucial. Graduates from accredited practical nursing schools are preferred.

Licensure or Certification:

Must hold a current LPN license in accordance with state regulations. In Arizona and Florida, maintaining current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is required. In the Midwest, BLS certification must be obtained from an approved provider such as the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional specialty certifications or training may be necessary based on the specific work area.

12-hour shifts from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Flexibility to float to various locations may be required to meet patient care needs.
