About the Role

The Patient Care Coordinator I is a vital member of our dynamic team at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. As a professional liaison, you will act as a trusted advocate for patients and families, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule patient appointments, coordinate with other departments, and communicate schedules directly to patients.
  • Patient Support: Work closely with patients, families, visitors, providers, and staff to identify needs, answer questions, resolve problems, provide information, and follow up.
  • Administrative Tasks: Update patient and caregiver contact information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), communicate with providers, technologists, and nurses regarding scheduling needs and treatment schedules.
  • Emergency Situations: Recognize emergency situations and initiate correct code procedures.
  • Departmental Support: Assist with the overall function of the department, take on additional duties such as cross-coverage, special projects, and support the training of new staff.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of word processing (MS Word), email, and data entry in a Windows-based environment.
  • Customer Service: Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to solve complex problems and meet patient needs.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to review work to identify and eliminate errors and omissions.
