Job Overview

The Animal Care Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of shelter animals and overseeing their journey through the shelter system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional care for all shelter animals, from intake to adoption.
  • Conduct thorough behavioral and medical assessments to ensure each animal's needs are met.
  • Administer vaccinations, treatments, and medications as required.
  • Perform initial evaluations of animal behavior and health, documenting any concerns.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service during adoption processes and client interactions.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Care team to facilitate successful adoptions and reunifications.
  • Maintain organized animal records in both paper and electronic formats.
  • Assist with inquiries via phone and email, providing accurate information to the public.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of domestic animal care, including breeds, behavior, and health issues.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in an animal care environment, preferably in a shelter.
  • Competence in basic veterinary procedures and techniques.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with shelter management software is a plus.
  • A compassionate approach to animal care, treating all animals with respect and kindness.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Multilingual skills are preferred.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in an animal shelter environment, which may involve exposure to cleaning products, seasonal weather conditions, and various animal behaviors. The ability to handle animals of all sizes and temperaments is essential.

Weekend and holiday availability is necessary, and the role may involve lifting up to 75 pounds with appropriate accommodations.
