Literacy Zone Case Manager

The Brooklyn Public Library is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Case Manager to join our Adult Learning Program team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and career goals of adult learners in the Literacy Zone.
Job Summary:The Case Manager will work closely with the Literacy Zone Coordinator, WIOA HSE admin team, and instructors to ensure that program participants' needs are being met. This role will involve conducting comprehensive assessments, providing one-on-one and small group services, and linking participants with resources to help them achieve their goals.
Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop plans of service for participants
- Provide intensive one-on-one and small group services to participants and their families
- Link participants with resources to help them achieve their goals
- Plan and coordinate community events to meet program targets
- Identify post-secondary transition programs and assist foreign-born participants
- Assist with program outreach, recruitment, and information sessions
- Communicate effectively with key staff and instructors to identify barriers to participants' educational needs
- Collaborate with community partners to provide wrap-around services
- Research and assist participants in acquiring related supportive services
- Facilitate and coordinate workshops and information sessions
- Attend community partner meetings and case management team meetings
- Maintain case notes and monitor participants' progress
- Some college required; Bachelor's degree in education or a related field preferred
- Relevant experience in adult education (HSE)
- Strong awareness of barriers facing adult learners
- Relevant experience in counseling individuals and/or facilitating informational sessions
- Good knowledge of available educational, training, and employment resources
- Good knowledge of labor market trends and requirements
- Initiative and resourcefulness; tact and courtesy; good judgement and problem solving ability
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Google Drive, Outlook, and Social Media
- Able to travel to various program sites and work alternate Saturdays, evenings, and day shifts
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9:45am-5:30pm
Tuesday, Thursday: 12:45pm-8:00pm
Two Saturdays a month: 10am-4pm
Must be willing to travel and work from various library branches within the Literacy Zone target area
Complete 14 hours of professional development per year
This is a grant-funded opportunity through June 30, 2024, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and outcomes
This is a full-time position with a 35-hour work week and a salary range of $42,000 - $45,000 per year
