Job Title: Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH). The successful candidate will work as an administrative team lead, providing compassionate and evidence-based care to an underserved psychiatric treatment population.

About the Role:

The Nurse Practitioner will serve as a faculty member, facilitating the implementation of the Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program. This will involve developing a core curriculum, preparing and presenting didactic presentations, and coordinating guest speakers and faculty.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to fellowship enrolled OMH employed Nurse Practitioners across adult civil, child and forensic inpatient, and outpatient services.
  • Establish expectation and criteria for self-evaluation to identify knowledge gaps, deficiencies, and limits in NP level of knowledge, expertise, and attitude.
  • Pursue grant funding and educational opportunities specific to NP practice.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a New York State License and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse, as well as certification by the New York State Education Department in the Psychiatry specialty area. A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse Practitioner Psychiatry is preferred, with board certification and a doctoral degree in nursing practice or a related field being highly desirable.

The successful candidate will also possess excellent written, computer, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Some travel within NYS may be required.
