General Counsel and Compliance Officer

Cumberland Farms, Inc. is seeking an experienced General Counsel and Compliance Officer to join our corporate counsel group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance on a wide range of legal matters, including litigation, contract review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, and general corporate affairs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial contract review and negotiations, prior in-house experience, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will work closely with internal business clients to provide timely advice on corporate policies and various legal issues, as well as assist with resolving contract and other commercial disputes that may arise.
This role requires a team player with a positive, can-do attitude who will take a proactive approach to addressing issues as they arise. Key Responsibilities:
- Review and negotiate multiple types of contracts, including confidentiality agreements, indemnity agreements, service agreements, software license and SaaS agreements, and supply agreements with minimal supervision.
- Provide timely advice to internal business clients on corporate policies and various legal issues.
- Assist business clients with resolving contract and other commercial disputes that may arise.
- Manage litigation matters, perform basic litigation functions such as responding to subpoenas and administrative complaints, and supervise outside counsel.
- Support on basic real estate matters, including tenant estoppel certificates, SNDAs, correspondence with landlords and tenants, and review of easements.
- Conduct research on regulatory matters as needed.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Admission to Massachusetts or other state bar.
- 5 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work independently and have strong time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Westlaw required.
Estimated Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000 per year
