Battery Engineer - Formation Cell Specialist

Forge Nano is seeking a highly skilled Battery Engineer - Formation Cell Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our formation team, you will be responsible for leading the development and optimization of formation processes for 21700 cylindrical cells.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and optimization of formation processes for 21700 cylindrical cells, focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors to select, procure, and integrate formation equipment suitable for 21700 cell manufacturing, including ASRS systems and other automation technologies.
  • Continuously improve formation processes through data analysis, experimentation, and process refinement to enhance battery performance and reliability.
  • Implement robust quality control measures to monitor and maintain consistent formation quality standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to formation processes, equipment, and materials, working closely with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of formation process parameters, equipment settings, and experimental results, and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Provide training and guidance to production staff on proper formation techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the formation team.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in battery technology, formation processes, and industry best practices, and explore new methodologies and technologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of formation processes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in battery formation processes, with specific expertise in 21700 cylindrical cells.
  • Strong understanding of electrochemistry, cell assembly, and battery manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical methods for process optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with formation equipment, including ASRS systems, formation testers, and other specialized machinery.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and quality management systems in battery manufacturing.
