About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Cashier/Checker to join our team at Mariano's, a part of the Kroger family of companies. As a Cashier/Checker, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing transactions efficiently, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service by greeting, engaging, and assisting customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, and electronic benefits transfer (EBT).
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures, including cash handling, inventory management, and customer service standards.
  • Work effectively to control loss and maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads, and communicate effectively with customers about promotions and sales.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines, and maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards customers and colleagues.
Requirements
  • Customer service experience, with a focus on providing exceptional service to customers.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
