Outbound Transportation Analyst - Contract Position

Objective: This role is dedicated to delivering analytical assistance to outbound logistics operations at adidas, focusing on our Retail, eCommerce, and Wholesale business segments. The analyst will work closely with our Distribution Centers (DCs) and various internal stakeholders to ensure that delivery standards and service metrics are consistently achieved. This position also addresses daily shipment and carrier-related challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead load and shipment planning, optimization, and analysis of equipment and trailer utilization for outbound customer deliveries.
  • Ensure carriers meet or exceed their performance Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Develop, track, and assess transportation Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Facilitate transportation optimization by providing analytical insights, reporting, and operational guidance aimed at cost reduction, efficiency enhancement, and capacity management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance overall network performance.
  • Oversee automated carrier selection, assignment, rating, and tendering processes within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Monitor carrier pickup and delivery performance, resolving any related issues.
  • Track shipment status, EDI transactions, and address process errors in the TMS.
  • Manage TMS error resolution and exceptions.
  • Communicate shipment status updates to customers based on carrier interactions.
  • Inform customers or stakeholders about any delivery or shipment issues as needed.
  • Analyze historical load data and create reports for customers and management to support carrier performance evaluation and financial planning.

Key Relationships:

  • Internal: Distribution Centers, Store Operations, eCommerce Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Finance
  • External: Third-Party Logistics Providers (3PLs), Carriers (parcel, LTL, TL), Freight Brokers, TMS software vendors, Consultants

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with transportation management systems or transportation modeling tools.
  • Strong analytical and data management capabilities, with a proven ability to organize information and generate reports effectively.
  • Ability to engage and cultivate positive relationships with carriers.
  • Capacity to collaborate with carriers to ensure availability during peak periods.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in navigating systems to extract necessary data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, MicroStrategy, and/or Tableau.
  • Understanding of various transportation modes (IM, LTL, TL, and Small Parcel).
  • Excellent analytical skills with experience in performance metrics or KPIs.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills for stakeholder meetings and project team interactions.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace culture.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Engineering, Logistics/Transportation, or Supply Chain preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience or training.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
