About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our team at Scout Exchange. As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our attorneys and ensuring the smooth operation of our litigation department.

Job Description

  • Assist attorneys with preparing court documents, pleadings, and other legal materials.
  • Maintain and organize files, both physically and electronically.
  • Draft standard correspondence, memoranda, and other documents.
  • Prepare and submit client intake forms.
  • Accurately file court documents and maintain knowledge of local or judge-specific requirements.
  • Perform e-filings and prepare pleadings notebooks.
  • Timely review and ensure accuracy of vendor invoices.
  • Participate in the timely review and submission of prebills and/or client bills.
  • Possess strong clerical skills, including typing, transcribing, word processing, mail and contact management, spreadsheets, presentations, and all of our systems and databases.
  • Exhibit good judgment and organizational skills to receive, record and disseminate all information on behalf of clients and assigned attorneys.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma required (College degree is preferred, but not required).
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a legal secretary required.
  • Familiarity with Lexis Nexis, Pacer, ECF, Desksite or document management system, CompuLaw, Concur, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Possess basic PC skills and ability to use phone system, copier, scanner, fax, and printer.
  • Strong computer proficiency in the use of MS Office, Document Management System, Time Entry, e-Filing and database software.
