Position Overview

Responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery to excavate, transport, and grade materials efficiently.

Experience Level

Intermediate

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple types of heavy machinery while conducting maintenance and repairs on infrastructure, including loading, hauling, and dumping on diverse terrains.
  • Load and distribute materials such as gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and level surfaces; spread aggregates.
  • Excavate and create trenches for the installation of drainage systems, water lines, and sewer systems; clear debris and sediment.
  • Maintain knowledge of machinery to ensure proper fluid levels and lubrication are consistently checked.
  • May be required to train and guide other employees in the safe operation of machinery and best practices.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment and materials to identify any issues or defects.

Qualifications

  • Ability to comprehend, follow, and convey written and verbal instructions while effectively communicating with supervisors.
  • Possess the necessary skills and knowledge relevant to the position.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to navigate a construction site, requiring standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.


  • Work in varying outdoor conditions and adapt to changing weather.


  • Availability for irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use ladders, mechanical platforms, and scaffolding to access work areas.


  • Capable of working in confined and cluttered spaces, as well as on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
  • Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds across the work site.


  • Possess necessary tools for the job.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and project guidelines, performing additional duties as required.
  • Must pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing and fit-for-duty medical evaluations.
