Waste Connections is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. This full-time position involves maintaining and repairing our fleet of waste collection vehicles and trailers.
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
Compensation for this role ranges from $34 to $35.50 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on waste collection trucks.
- Conduct preventive maintenance services and repairs as assigned.
- Utilize fleet maintenance software for documentation of repairs, parts usage, and repair times (experience with Cummins, Davie-4, and Allison documentation is essential).
- Conduct laptop and chassis diagnostics.
- Test drive vehicles post-service and repairs.
- Communicate effectively regarding service schedules and repairs.
- Perform MIG welding as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness in the workshop.
- Conduct safety checks on equipment.
- Manage and track service inventory.
- Engage with drivers to address any vehicle issues.
- Review and address repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy truck maintenance and repair.
- Possession of a basic tool set, toolbox, and necessary personal safety equipment.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with diagnostic testing software.
- A Class B CDL is preferred but not mandatory.
- Welding experience is advantageous.
