Waste Connections is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. This full-time position involves maintaining and repairing our fleet of waste collection vehicles and trailers.

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.

Compensation for this role ranges from $34 to $35.50 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on waste collection trucks.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance services and repairs as assigned.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance software for documentation of repairs, parts usage, and repair times (experience with Cummins, Davie-4, and Allison documentation is essential).
  • Conduct laptop and chassis diagnostics.
  • Test drive vehicles post-service and repairs.
  • Communicate effectively regarding service schedules and repairs.
  • Perform MIG welding as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the workshop.
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment.
  • Manage and track service inventory.
  • Engage with drivers to address any vehicle issues.
  • Review and address repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy truck maintenance and repair.
  • Possession of a basic tool set, toolbox, and necessary personal safety equipment.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with diagnostic testing software.
  • A Class B CDL is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Welding experience is advantageous.
