Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Seasonal Bakery Clerk to join our team at Northgate Markets. As a key member of our bakery department, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating the bakery in an efficient manner, ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality products and exceptional service.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and organized bakery environment, adhering to company standards and health regulations.
  • Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise, verifying inventory and checking products for quality and condition.
  • Rotate bakery ingredients and merchandise according to store policy, using the first-in, first-out method to ensure freshness and quality.
  • Take stock to storage or shelf areas, reducing out-of-code merchandise daily to maintain the department's image.
  • Wrap, package, and price products accurately and legibly, answering phones and taking special orders as needed.
  • Control utility usage and observe sound conservation practices, maintaining general housekeeping and a regular cleaning program.
  • Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance, using and maintaining equipment in an orderly manner.
  • Secure registers and protect company assets at all times, adhering to shift operating hours and informing managers of low inventory conditions or excessive spoilage problems.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations, performing any other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Conditions:

  • High school education or equivalent preferred, with a minimum of one year experience in full bakery operations and procedures.
  • Health department training required, with the ability to calculate figures and amounts, and accurately complete required reports.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand the English language effectively, with knowledge of various types of products carried in the department.
  • Ability to handle special orders, including calculating proper price adjustments, and be thoroughly knowledgeable in baking tasks, safety, and health considerations.
  • Pass a standard drug test and qualify as being drug-free under the legal and medical guidelines permitted by the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.
