Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation and Controls Engineer to join our team at Impulse Space. As a key member of our Propulsion Engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and commissioning industrial machinery and systems for R&D, test, and production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own all aspects of equipment design from concept to commissioning
  • Generate necessary schematics and documentation for electrical and fluid systems
  • Architect, write, and debug software for PLCs in TwinCAT
  • Program various industrial controls hardware, including VFDs, motor starters, and PLCs
  • Select application-specific hardware and develop HMIs for diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Work with end users to ensure equipment meets design intent
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 5+ years of professional work experience in a relevant field (manufacturing/test/R&D)
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience working with PLC systems
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience working on control systems and industrial machines
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience working on industrial safety systems
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Object-oriented programming in structured text per IEC
  • Schematic design with EPlan
  • 3D control panel design with EPlan ProPanel
  • Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems
  • Understanding of ISO 13849, ANSI B11, or IEC 61508 safety standards
  • Knowledge of UL508A, NFPA 70, and NFPA 79 standards
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols such as EtherCAT, Profinet, and IO-Link
