Position Overview:

We are in search of a highly driven and proactive individual eager to embark on a rewarding career within a rapidly expanding specialty pharmacy management service. The ideal candidate will be an experienced pharmacy technician, registered in their state of employment, with national certification as a CPhT preferred but not mandatory. This role requires an individual capable of working autonomously while building strong, credible relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and internal team members. A results-oriented mindset, positive attitude, and a commitment to high-quality patient care and service are essential. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are crucial. The successful candidate will be professional, approachable, and adept at interacting with others both in person and over the phone. Reliability, tolerance, determination, and the ability to empathize with others are key traits for this position. Most importantly, the candidate must thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional care to hospital patients through comprehensive medication management services.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with hospital clinicians as part of the clinic team to assist patients both in person and via phone.
  • Educate potential pharmacy patients on how the hospital enhances their overall care.
  • Support outpatient retail and specialty prescription medication requirements.
  • Expand the patient population within specialty pharmacies.
  • Ensure patients adhere to their medication regimens through proactive follow-ups and securing refill prescriptions.
  • Effectively communicate with the centralized Patient Service Center regarding refill reports, zero-fill reports, monthly outstanding reports, and appointment lists.
  • Contribute to the development of new processes to enhance operational efficiency and patient care.
  • Identify medications that require special handling or storage, including hazardous and refrigerated medications.
  • Determine necessary supplies for specific medications, such as sharps containers and syringes.
  • Manage and resolve inbound inquiries effectively.
  • Conduct refill reminder calls under pharmacist supervision.
  • Address insurance-related issues, including prior authorizations, and assist patients with financial assistance options.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in all required systems and tracking mechanisms.
  • Organize and update relevant data using database applications.
  • Apply insights and recommendations to improve operational issues, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
  • Identify trends, resolve issues, recommend enhancements, and implement changes.
  • Actively engage in process improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a valuable business partner to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Safeguard the organization's integrity by maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Enhance knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, networking, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Exhibit a willingness to contribute to the overall success of the company.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to work independently with sound judgment, strong verbal and written communication abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word), quick adaptability to new software, and strong organizational and administrative skills are essential.

Additional Qualifications: Energetic, highly motivated team player with strong personal and communication skills; discretion and confidentiality are critical due to the sensitive nature of the data handled.

Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with transplant, hepatitis C, infectious diseases (including HIV), and/or oncology is advantageous.

Experience and Education:
Required Licensure/Certification: Candidates must be state-registered pharmacy technicians. National certification as a CPhT or equivalent is strongly preferred but not mandatory. If additional licensure is required, the candidate must commit to obtaining it within an agreed timeframe. Continued employment is contingent upon meeting these licensure requirements.

Years of Experience: A minimum of 2 years is required, with 3-5 years preferred in a Pharmacy Technician role.

Education: A High School Diploma or GED is required.
