Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role is focused on providing comprehensive medication education and support through both individual and group interventions. The individual will oversee the scheduling and management of Psychiatric and Medication Support Services within the outpatient program. Additionally, this position will engage in community outreach to develop resources that enhance participant and program outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough admission assessments for participants, including health history, vital signs, and observation for withdrawal symptoms and mental health disorders.
  2. Complete necessary consent forms and referrals to address the physical health, mental health, and substance abuse treatment needs of residents.
  3. Provide ongoing assessments and monitor treatment responses, including both adverse and intended effects of medications.
  4. Facilitate connections between residents and healthcare providers for required physical examinations and ongoing care.
  5. Verify and coordinate medical insurance information and pharmacy interactions.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work environment and clinic appointment area.
  7. Manage the timely ordering, receipt, storage, and destruction of medications, ensuring proper documentation for all activities.
  8. Document and communicate medication changes and related information to the treatment team and supervisor.
  9. Coordinate specialty services related to medication and pharmacy.
  10. Ensure accurate maintenance of health records.
  11. Collaborate with physicians, pharmacies, and the treatment team to provide comprehensive mental health and physical health services.
  12. Educate participants on medication usage, indications, and potential side effects.
  13. Provide information on Medications for Addiction Treatment (M.A.T.) for substance use disorders.
  14. Document services provided in accordance with agency standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring clarity and timeliness.
  15. Support the utilization of service units, including Targeted Case Management and Care Coordination as directed.
  16. Adhere to the Treatment Policies and Procedures Manual, with a focus on managing and safeguarding medications.
  17. Maintain compliance with all regulatory expectations and ethical standards, as well as agency policies.
  18. Foster constructive relationships with family members, community members, and other professionals.
  19. Assist with phone inquiries and complete referral and screening forms accurately.
  20. Participate in required program staff meetings, agency meetings, and training sessions.
  21. Contribute to maintaining a safe and drug-free environment.
  22. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Must possess a valid license from the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians as a Psychiatric Technician or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  2. Commitment to completing at least 20 hours of continuing education annually in behavioral health-related areas.
  3. A minimum of two years of experience in a behavioral health setting.
