About the Diesel Mechanic Position

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Transdev in Arlington, Virginia. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet of buses and other equipment operated by Arlington Transit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform limited repairs with moderate supervision on basic and advanced maintenance tasks
  • Remove and replace engine, transmission, and differential assemblies
  • Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles, including parts and supplies used
  • Repair and maintain all shop equipment
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary
  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair accurately
Requirements:
  • A vocational or technical degree in vehicle maintenance is preferred
  • A valid CDL driver's license is highly preferred
  • At least 5 years of automotive or diesel repair employment experience or a combination of education & experience
  • Must have appropriate mechanic's toolset
  • ASE certifications are preferred. Must participate in company ASE certification program (company training, testing, and bonuses provided)
  • Strong experience with computers, web-based applications, and computerized diagnostics
Benefits:
  • Hourly pay ranges based on experience & job classification
  • $41.00 / hr for A Tech
  • $34.00 / hr for B Tech
  • $30.00 / hr for C Tech
  • $.25 per hour per ASE Certification
  • $2.25 per hour additional for ASE Master Tech
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus*
