Job Summary:

The Scrap Yard Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in the daily operations of the scrap yard, ensuring the efficient and safe management of scrap materials. This position requires a strong understanding of scrap grading and the ability to learn and adapt to new procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Scrap Inspection and Grading: Conduct thorough inspections of incoming scrap materials to ensure they meet quality and environmental standards.
  2. Material Handling: Safely operate material handling equipment, such as cranes and loaders, to load and unload scrap materials.
  3. Communication and Collaboration: Regularly communicate with the scale, supervisor, and other coworkers to ensure seamless operations and high-quality materials.
  4. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine equipment care and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  5. Quality Control: Verify scrap materials against quality and environmental standards, applying deductions and downgrades as necessary.
  6. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that all materials meet safety and quality standards.
  7. Problem-Solving: Identify and report faulty materials, environmental hazards, and safety concerns, referring questionable matters to proper supervision.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Inventory Management: Assist in monthly inventory counts and maintain accurate records.
  2. Equipment Repair: Assist maintenance personnel in performing equipment repairs as required.
  3. Baler Operation: Operate the baler to process scrap materials.
  5. Nonferrous Processing: Assist in segregating materials to upgrade products, such as copper, brass, and aluminum.
  6. Problem-Solving: Contribute to problem-solving efforts and provide input on improving operational efficiency and safety.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Education: High School education at a minimum.
