Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough desk research to identify user needs, business requirements, policies, and processes.
  • Develop high-quality design solutions that address known challenges, working under the guidance of a senior team member.
  • Design accessible and mobile-first solutions (from low- to high-fidelity) that cater to users' needs, leveraging the U.S. Web Design System.
  • Create design strategies that align with client needs, incorporating customer/user and business insights to develop effective solutions.
  • Break down complex products into manageable design tasks, providing constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless communication of user needs and design decisions.

What We Offer:

  • $135,000 - $150,000 salary range (3-month contract to hire).
  • Self-managed PTO policy and 11 federal holidays.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in end-to-end product design, including baseline user and concept testing.
  • A self-starter who can navigate complex systems and provide clarity to the design team.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and communicating user needs and design decisions.
  • Detail-oriented and reliable, with a curious mindset driving user knowledge and product clarity.
  • Ability to take initiative, survey project and stakeholder needs, and implement effective solutions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience in modernizing federal services.
  • Experience in implementing digital accessibility standards and internationalization.
