About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to lead the development of new tools to monitor and improve forecast health in our Demand and Inbound Forecasting team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for detecting, diagnosing, and correcting forecast problems, generating metrics and insights, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop solutions that utilize the highest standards of analytical rigor with data integrity to provide reporting against large, multi-dimensional datasets and multiple sources.
  • Partner with scientists, engineers, product managers, and program managers to build and productionize forecasting metrics; perform analysis to identify the root cause of issues and generate actionable insights to guide the appropriate solution.
  • Engage stakeholders in constructive dialogues to convert business problems into logic problems that can be solved with data, statistics, and scripting.
  • Build internal and customer-facing dashboards to provide metrics and convey insights which highlight forecast performance and explain variance.
  • Manage and execute entire projects or components of large projects from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, data modeling and finding synthesis, and communication of insights and recommendations.
  • Mentor team members by coaching them on the analytics lifecycle, including identifying the optimal analytical method, building and automating the solution, and generating insights from the results.
About the Team

We are the ASIN Forecasting Analytics Team, responsible for monitoring the ASIN demand and inbound inventory forecasts for Amazon Businesses WW. We report on historical forecast performance, the changes of future forecasts, and the health of future forecasts. We develop intervention models to correct forecasts when defects exist or for scenarios that are not addressed adequately by core models. In addition to forecast accuracy, we help manage forecast volatility.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of professional or military experience.
  • 6+ years of SQL experience.
  • Experience programming to extract, transform, and clean large (multi-TB) data sets.
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results.
  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning, and data mining.
  • Experience with AWS technologies.
  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field.
  • Experience managing, analyzing, and communicating results to senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
