Sterile Processing Technician Job Summary

Lexington Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment for use in the operating room and other hospital departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments and equipment using accepted techniques and procedures.
  • Prepare instruments, procedure trays, and instrument sets for sterilization, ensuring proper loading techniques and operational procedures.
  • Operate all equipment used in cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization processes, including steam and Sterrad sterilizers, sonic washers, washer decontaminators, and cart washers.
  • Assemble instruments and supplies for operating room procedures, returning unused supplies and instrument trays to the proper location in the Sterile Processing Department.
  • Restock supplies in operating room suites from the Sterile Processing Department inventory.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • None
  • Must obtain CBSPD-Technician from IAHCSMM or CBSPD from C.S.P.D.T certification within 1 year of employment
