Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care Delivery Operations
    • Direct and supervise a team of nursing professionals to ensure the delivery of quality care and services.
    • Implement and monitor systems to ensure consistent delivery of quality care and services.
    • Develop and implement staffing and scheduling patterns to maintain continuity of care and regulatory compliance.
    • Assess and monitor the clinical setting to ensure effective and safe care delivery.
    • Facilitate effective communication between cross-functional teams and promote a team approach in care delivery.
    • Maintain communication with residents' physicians, families, and responsible parties to ensure their needs are being met.
    • Identify ongoing needs of residents to maintain the highest quality standards for well-being.
    • Ensure proper utilization of the Resident Care Plan by all team members.
    • Ensure proper follow-through and documentation of care delivery.
    • Facilitate relationships with hospice, therapy, and other providers.
    • Participate in community awareness activities and community relationship development.
    • Assist in counseling residents, families, or responsible parties during difficult transitional care periods.
  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
    • Strive for excellent quality care and service delivery as measured in the Quality Services Review (QSR) process and institute corrective actions in a timely manner.
    • Research, document, and review all incidents of abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of funds; develop and implement plans of correction as appropriate.
    • Ensure Quality Improvement meetings are occurring and may be designated as the Chairperson of the meetings.
    • Analyze Guest/Resident Care Standards of Care and Support Services to maintain quality care and clinical practice.
    • Review, develop, and implement plans of correction for concerns and issues identified by pharmacy consultants.
    • Review and develop plans of correction with the interdisciplinary team to enhance the quality of resident care.
    • Regularly monitor each resident's medication and treatment profile and medication pass process to ensure each medication and treatment is administered as ordered and documented accurately.
    • Review for accuracy and compliance all physician orders at time of move-in and monthly thereafter.
    • Act as liaison with pharmacy to ensure effective services for residents.
    • Ensure pharmacy follows state regulations for labeling, distribution, and identification of medications.
    • Develop a thorough working knowledge of current and evolving federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures for resident care and services.
    • Ensure that the community follows all state regulations as it pertains to resident care and services.
    • Review, develop, and implement plans of correction for concerns and issues identified by regulators.
    • Complete and submit all monthly and quarterly reports in a timely manner.
    • Follow through on mock survey process.
  • Financial Management
    • Assist in the presentation and value of Sunrise's products and services for residents, families, and team members and targeted referral sources.
    • Assist the executive director in completing the annual community budget.
    • Understand and manage the department budget to include labor and other expenses and its impact on the community's bottom line.
    • Review monthly financial statements and implement plans of action around deficiencies.
    • Process and submit monthly expenses and budget data timely per Sunrise policies and internal business controls.
    • Coordinate with the community team to achieve maximum staff economies and cross-training when applicable.
    • Understand the internal cost associated with all Sunrise resident care programs.
  • Training, Leadership, and Team Member Development
    • Overall management of the department, including but not limited to: recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and disciplining.
    • Partner in the delivery and participation in Sunrise University Training and self-study programs during the required timeframe.
    • Develop a working knowledge of state regulations and ensure compliance through supervising and coaching team members.
    • Achieve the Team Member Engagement goals and actively lead in the Engagement Improvement Planning sessions.
    • Complete team member staffing and scheduling according to operational and budgetary guidelines.
    • Daily review of timekeeping practices and payroll reports to ensure all hours worked are recorded and appropriately paid.
    • Conduct timely performance appraisals with meaningful conversations.
    • Hold team members accountable and correct actions when necessary and document.
    • Attend regular meetings; Stand Up, Cross Over, Department Head Meetings, Town Hall, Quality Improvement, and others as directed by the Executive Director.
    • Keep abreast of professional developments in the field by reading, attending conferences, and training sessions.
