Job Summary

The Theatre Under The Stars is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Officer to join our team. This key role will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan to support the theatre's annual fund, special events, and capital campaign.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three to five years of development experience, with a proven track record of securing major gifts. They will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with existing and prospective donors, as well as participating in the screening process of new donor prospects.

The Senior Development Officer will work closely with the Director of Development to develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan, and will be responsible for managing a portfolio of individual major donors and prospects. They will also participate in the development of fundraising strategy, attend meetings of the Board of Directors, and manage a budget for areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to support the theatre's annual fund, special events, and capital campaign.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with existing and prospective donors.
  • Participate in the screening process of new donor prospects.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual major donors and prospects.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategy, as requested and directed by leadership.
  • Attend meetings of the Board of Directors.
  • Manage a budget for areas of responsibility.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three to five years of development experience.
  • Proven track record of securing major gifts.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems with creativity and efficiency.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to perform prospect research and identify new donors.
  • Ability to listen effectively to assist staff and volunteers in identifying and resolving challenges.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a sound perspective, essential for maintaining healthy relationships with co-workers.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of Windows products, including Word and Excel.
  • Exemplary attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability and commitment to working with diverse groups in terms of gender expression, race, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class, and immigrant status.
