Mechanic - Building Systems Specialist

The Yale Club of New York City seeks a skilled Mechanic to join our facilities team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Operation and Maintenance: Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, and cooling towers. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all building systems to ensure efficient operation.
- Electrical Systems: Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and components, including lighting, motors, and control systems. Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Plumbing Systems: Maintain and repair plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and sewage systems. Perform routine inspections to identify and address potential issues.
- Mechanical Systems: Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical systems, including elevators, escalators, and fire protection systems. Ensure all mechanical systems operate safely and efficiently.
- General Maintenance: Perform general building maintenance tasks, such as painting, carpentry, and minor repairs. Respond to service requests and work orders in a timely manner.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, such as power outages, system failures, and natural disasters, to ensure the safety and security of the facility.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience.
- Valid and current licenses and certifications as required (e.g., refrigeration, boiler operator).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that require climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
The job requires working in various settings, including commercial buildings, schools, hospitals, and other facilities. The job may require working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying environmental conditions. Regular exposure to noise, dust, and hazardous materials may be expected. May require working evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.
