Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Lab Technician in the Virginia Tech School of Neuroscience. As a key member of our research team, you will assist with various research projects, including those focused on understanding the mechanisms of neuronal vulnerability during disease states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with research projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Contribute to the development of experimental designs and protocols
  • Perform laboratory maintenance, including ordering supplies and managing the rodent colony
  • Collaborate with researchers and other team members to achieve project goals

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a biology, chemistry, neuroscience, or related research laboratory
  • Experience with rodent handling (mouse and/or rat)
  • Experience with standard computer software for lab management (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • Knowledge of statistics
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Experience with electrophysiology or electrochemistry
