Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Research Assistant to join our team in the School of Neuroscience at Virginia Tech. As a Laboratory Research Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting ongoing research activities in the Thompson laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with laboratory experiments and procedures, including animal handling and laboratory techniques.
  • Support the development and implementation of research projects, including data collection and analysis.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and researchers to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in neuroscience research and laboratory techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in laboratory research, including animal handling and laboratory techniques.
  • Knowledge of molecular neuroscience and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
