Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Brown University Health. As a key member of our medical imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical radiographic procedures, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet and greet patients, providing clear explanations of radiologic examinations to reduce apprehension
  • Schedule patients for radiologic examinations, ensuring efficient patient flow
  • Process radiographic images using CR Readers and scan images to PACS for physician review
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, demonstrating a sound understanding of anatomical positioning, physiology, and technical factors to produce optimum results
  • Assist physicians and physician assistants in the administration of opaque contrast media, process exposed radiographic images as required, and follow protocols for RIS and PACS usage
  • Maintain orderliness, cleanliness, and adequate supplies for assigned areas, rotating within the department and by shift as required
  • Participate in the training and instruction of radiologic technology for staff radiographers and students
  • Ensure quality assurance, observing hospital and department safety regulations, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures, and objectives
Requirements
  • Completion of formal training in an AMA-approved accredited school of radiologic technology or equivalent
  • Current license to work in the State of Rhode Island
  • Current ARRT certification
  • Ability to consistently meet job accountabilities, including critical thinking, interpersonal skills, team membership, customer focus, initiative, and reliability
Work Environment

This role requires working in a healthcare environment, such as acute care hospitals, physicians' offices, and ancillary healthcare enterprises. You will work with medical equipment and have direct patient contact. Adherence to established safety procedures and precautions, including the use of safety equipment and protective clothing, is essential.

Physical demands include walking and standing intermittently throughout the day, subject to electrical and energy hazards, and the ability to lift and position patients and supplies up to 50 pounds.
