Job Description

GENERAL OVERVIEW

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the daily operations of the restaurant and bar, ensuring that customer satisfaction is achieved through quality service and adherence to corporate policies. This position plays a crucial role in meeting and exceeding financial objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage the operations of the restaurant and bar, including the outdoor courtyard bar.
  2. Propose improvements to existing procedures and assist in the administration of the dining services.
  3. Monitor and report on shift revenues to ensure financial targets are met.
  4. Work flexible hours, typically between forty to fifty hours over a five-day workweek.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Oversee the shift operations, collaborating with kitchen staff to maintain smooth service and compliance with safety regulations. Ensure that a high level of hospitality and service quality is consistently delivered.

Supervise restaurant and bar personnel, including interviewing, hiring recommendations, scheduling, training, and performance evaluations. Foster open communication and address any employee issues as they arise.

Respond effectively to customer inquiries and concerns to enhance their experience and promote future patronage.

Update the cash register system and prepare various reports to support restaurant administration.

Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the restaurant and bar facilities and equipment during shifts to protect assets and comply with health regulations.

Participate in special projects and other assigned responsibilities as needed.

Engage in task forces and committees as required.

No travel is necessary for this position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role involves supervising a team of five to seven employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

A solid understanding of hotel operations, corporate food service, and restaurant/bar management is essential. This knowledge is typically acquired through on-the-job experience. Familiarity with computer systems and technical devices may also be necessary.

Ability to compile data and adhere to established procedures is required.

Strong supervisory communication skills are essential.

Skills

Physical capability to lift, push, pull, and carry various items, including tables and trays, as part of daily operations.

Ability to bend and kneel as needed for service and cleaning tasks.

Mobility is crucial, as the role involves moving throughout the dining areas.

Continuous standing is required to assist at service stations.

Abilities

Strong comprehension skills for addressing guest and staff matters, as well as interpreting instructions from management.

Excellent vision is necessary for seating guests, expediting orders, and maintaining cleanliness.

Exceptional oral communication skills are required for effective interaction with guests and team members.

Ability to read and implement policies and procedures, including writing schedules and understanding operational forecasts.

EDUCATION

A minimum of two years of post-secondary education is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

One to two years of relevant experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry is preferred.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

Familiarity with various equipment, including coffee machines, telephones, and credit card processing systems, is necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily conducted indoors, with potential exposure to high temperatures in outdoor dining settings and kitchen areas.
