Job Summary:
The Compliance Analyst II will be responsible for conducting internal audits to ensure adherence to regulatory standards in areas such as documentation, coding, insurance, HIPAA, and research compliance. This role also involves educating healthcare providers and departmental personnel on compliance protocols, privacy laws, and billing regulations.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting, health information management, business administration, health or social sciences, or a related field, along with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, research, and/or billing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Certifications:
Certification from recognized organizations such as the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA), Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), or Society of Clinical Research Professionals (SoCRA) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have:
- In-depth knowledge of statutory and regulatory provisions relevant to the compliance program.
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-9 & ICD-10 coding principles, medical terminology, and insurance regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with patients, clients, and compliance team members.
- Ability to analyze medical records and billing data, generating insightful reports.
- Capability to conduct compliance training sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
The Compliance Analyst II will:
- Conduct audits within assigned areas and report findings to relevant personnel.
- Assist in developing educational programs focused on compliance elements, explaining guidelines and policies to staff and physicians.
- Analyze operational procedures, identify potential compliance violations, and provide recommendations to management.
- Work collaboratively with management to identify and address trends in coding, billing, and compliance.
- Engage with external auditors to ensure compliance in designated areas.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
This position may require:
- Occasional extended working hours beyond the standard schedule.
- Travel to various locations as needed.
- Physical activities including lifting, bending, and walking.
