Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Instrument Technician - Echocardiography Specialist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing complex echocardiography examinations and providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform echocardiography examinations using various modalities, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography.
  • Operate and maintain echocardiography equipment, including transducers and ultrasound machines.
  • Interpret echocardiography results and provide accurate diagnoses to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with the latest echocardiography techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a medical technology program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
  • Certification in echocardiography or a related field, such as cardiac ultrasound or vascular technology.
  • At least 2 years of experience in echocardiography or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of echocardiography principles and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced certification in echocardiography or a related field.
  • Experience with echocardiography software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
  • Experience working with patients with complex medical conditions.
