Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Inspector to perform a variety of tasks related to building inspections, code enforcement, and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections, reviewing construction documents, and communicating with contractors and the public to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Review construction documents and perform required building code inspections
  • Communicate with contractors and the public to clarify building code requirements and violations
  • Issue violation notices and stop-work orders as necessary
  • Investigate alleged code violations and determine whether a violation exists
  • Prepare certification of inspection and other reports as required
Requirements
  • Graduation from junior college with an associate degree in building technology, building inspection, or a related field
  • Two years of Journeyman-level experience in the field of building construction, one year of which must have been as a Building Inspector
  • Thorough knowledge of international building, residential, property maintenance, and energy conservation codes
  • Ability to interpret codes accurately and equitably
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
