As a Special Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting field construction observation and material testing to ensure compliance with local building codes, project specifications, and project contracts.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct field construction observation and material testing to confirm compliance with local building codes, project specifications, and project contracts.
- Collect samples and perform specific Quality Assurance/Quality Control tests on construction materials and building components per AASHTO, ATM, and IBC standards.
- Compile detailed records of observations, inspections, and test results. Report results in a timely, accurate manner.
- Use, maintain, and calibrate various field and laboratory testing equipment.
- Assist and support laboratory testing in accordance with the Quality Management Systems (QMS), project requirements, and national standards (e.g., AASHTO, ASTM, IBC, etc.).
- Qualified candidates will have an American Concrete Institute (ACI) and/or International Code Council (ICC) certification in concrete field testing, soils, reinforced concrete, and/or post-tensioned concrete plus 1-3 years' previous Special Inspector experience.
- Candidates will be proactive, use a team approach to problem solving, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to operate a basic computer to prepare accurate and timely reports.
- Represent STRATA in a professional manner at all times and be client-service oriented.
- Must be willing to travel to remote project locations and arrive at the job site on time.
- Position requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- American Welding Society (AWS) certification, structural masonry, spray applied fireproofing, fire penetration / fire stops, structural bolting, structural steel welding and non-destructive testing.
- Basic use of Microsoft Teams software.
