Job Title: Associate Director for Employer Relations and Marketing

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director for Employer Relations and Marketing to join our team at Appalachian State University. This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in developing and executing employer outreach, recruitment, and relationship management strategies that produce high-quality internship and job opportunities for our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the leader of the Career Development Center Employer Relations Team, advancing its mission by developing and executing employer outreach, recruitment, and relationship management strategies.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all CDC anchor events, including career fairs, career conferences, and other engagements with a focus on high-quality engagement between employers and students.
  • Oversee and participate in site visits, including campus, local, and regional employers, to maintain and develop new relations, promote Career Development Center programs and services, and utilize Handshake.
  • Use expert understanding of the Appalachian State campus community to develop and implement customized and efficient strategies to meet employers' hiring needs.
  • Create and maintain an effective communication strategy for the CDC, ensuring visibility and promotion of services, events, and opportunities to connect for all stakeholders.
  • Serve as a consultant to employers to expand their talent pipelines and provide employers with engagement opportunities that foster mentoring and networking with students.
  • Proactively initiate classroom-based workshops and partner with faculty and industry to provide students with career readiness skills and connections.
  • Research and stay informed on employment and recruiting-related trends that support App State University's wide variety of majors and programs.
  • Develop reports and surveys to analyze the metrics of the recruiting operation and provide excellent customer service.
  • Supervise staff associated with the Employer Relations team.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, or a higher education-related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in career services and/or employer relations/relationship management, recruitment, talent development, human resources, or a related field (typically 3+ years).
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and a proven ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, alumni, employers, and staff colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Management experience in leading a team, supervising staff, and professional development.
  • Experience with relationship management platforms and tools, e.g., Handshake, People Admin, Slate, and other related systems.
  • Demonstrated public relations/communication development abilities.
  • Strong computer skills, including managing databases and familiarity with career development platforms and software packages.
  • Proven track record of employer development and recruitment practices.
  • Significant experience with project and event management (typically 3+ years).
