Job Overview

Winrock International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the disadvantaged, increasing economic opportunity, and sustaining natural resources. We are seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as Director of Environmental Standards for Global Sustainability.

About the Role

This position will lead the development of sectoral crediting standards for the electric power sector, providing technical expertise and overseeing the creation of measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in emissions quantification, carbon markets, and regulatory contexts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement MRV requirements and procedures for crediting
  • Collaborate with pilot countries and international organizations to establish data/inventory standards and methods
  • Lead an expert panel to draft MRV requirements and review technical standards
  • Engage with the expert community to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with Paris Agreement requirements
  • Develop training materials and lead workshops for validation and verification bodies
  • Communicate with partners, funders, and external stakeholders regarding standard development progress
Requirements and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Physical Sciences, or related field
  • 20+ years of experience in emissions quantification and reporting in a regulatory context
  • Demonstrated experience with development, implementation, and emissions accounting and verification standards and protocols
  • Experience conducting technical assessments of validation and verification bodies
  • Strong project management skills, including tracking deadlines, budgeting, and reporting
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $190,000 - $200,000 per annum, with an additional 10% contribution for a 403b annually. Our benefits package includes excellent compensation, comprehensive health insurance, and generous retirement plans.
