Job Title: Senior Principal Software Safety Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Software Safety Engineer to join our team in Melbourne, Florida. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for applying safety engineering principles to ensure the development of safe and reliable software systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply safety engineering principles to identify and mitigate hazards in software systems
  • Develop and implement safety requirements and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety considerations into software design and development
  • Conduct safety analyses and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies
  • Develop and maintain safety documentation and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 8 years of experience or Master's degree in a STEM field with 6 years of experience
  • Proven experience in applying safety engineering principles to software development
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including MIL-STD-882 and DO-178B/C
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Experience with safety analysis tools and methodologies
  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience with software testing and validation
