Position Overview

The Resource Management position at Rand Worldwide, Inc. focuses on the strategic planning and distribution of resources for various projects. Resource managers will collaborate closely with the Project Management Office, Project Managers, and upper management to ensure the appropriate combination of skill sets, interpersonal skills, and resource maturity are effectively documented and utilized.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Engage with internal technical staff and external contractors involved in projects.
  2. Allocate available personnel to projects based on their expertise, prior experience, and current availability.
  3. Supervise daily project operations and associated resource management.
  4. Conduct capacity planning to ensure that organizational resources can support upcoming projects.
  5. Oversee and manage employee workloads, utilization rates, and overtime hours.
  6. Resolve resource conflicts as they arise.
  7. Address resource shortages through effective management techniques, including reallocating resources and informing senior management of any challenges in meeting client demands.
  8. Assist project managers with resource management challenges and enhance resource management processes.
  9. Maintain awareness of all current and upcoming projects within the organization and align resource planning accordingly.
  10. Collaborate with the HR department on staff training, compensation planning, payroll, and recruitment for project needs.
  11. Stay informed about labor regulations and current trends in resource management.
  12. Document processes, such as weekly utilization reports.
Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, management, or a related field is preferred.

Experience in project resource management, HR management, or similar areas is desirable but not mandatory.

PMP certification or relevant experience is preferred but not required.

Familiarity with HR and project management tools related to resource management and reporting is beneficial.

A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in resource or project management is required.

Experience collaborating with management on employee skill set assessment and development is a plus.

Must demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to perform under pressure.

Ability to engage with a diverse group of individuals possessing various technical skills.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are essential.

Resourceful with robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.

Possess strong business acumen and high energy levels.

Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Additional Information

Travel Requirements

  • This role may involve up to 35% travel, often requiring air travel outside the local area and overnight stays. A reliable vehicle and valid driver's license are necessary, along with the ability to legally enter both Canada and the US.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 USD, depending on experience.
