Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in planning and executing complex systems and projects, including vendor research, technical specification creation, quotation requests, vendor selection, timeline development, and purchase requisition issuance.
  • Support the controls aspect of both internal and external projects.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering practices, government regulations, and safety standards.
  • Implement and maintain hardware and software for PLC, CNC, and HMI controls.
  • Support device-level networking and the integration of servo and VFD hardware and software.
  • Oversee manufacturing monitoring systems with a focus on integration with higher-level systems.
  • Apply processes and standards tailored to project needs and progress.
  • Assist in funding planning and tracking for overarching projects in line with company funding principles.
  • Manage spending plans to meet financial targets.
  • Identify project shortfalls, develop solutions, and implement effective measures.
  • Utilize appropriate project management tools for tasks.
  • Promote continuous improvement and actively explore market innovations.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively and monitor progress to ensure timely project completion.
  • Collaborate with skilled trades and union workers.
  • Provide regular updates and presentations on project status to management.
  • Represent the Manufacturing Engineering team professionally and engage in collaborative projects.
  • Maintain regular communication with the global Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Apply control technologies to both new and existing processes for optimal manufacturing solutions.
  • Assist in specifying and managing control designs for new manufacturing equipment procurement.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in design reviews with suppliers to achieve optimal equipment design.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience required.
  • Willingness to travel, including international travel (approximately 10%).
  • Strong communication skills for articulating technical information both in writing and verbally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to oversee the activities of tradespeople and contractors.
  • Capability to provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and other departments as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project management or supervisory roles.
  • Global project experience.
  • Ability to identify issues and procedural inconsistencies, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Experience with new product launches or machine retrofits.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD for controls-related drawings.
