Job Title: Vocal Music Educator

Join the Baltimore City Public School System as a Vocal Music Educator and play a vital role in shaping the musical talents of our students. As a Vocal Music Educator, you will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive Vocal Music program that caters to students in grades Kindergarten through 6.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and Evaluate Student Achievement: Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Plan and Implement Instructional Strategies: Plan and implement appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities, including determination of appropriate principles of learning, classroom organizational structures, and kind and level of materials which provide appropriate learning experiences for each student.
  • Develop and Adapt Educational Materials: Develop, adapt, modify, and individualize educational materials, resources, techniques, methods, and strategies to meet the needs of students within the City Schools' curriculum framework.
  • Manage Student Behavior: Assume direct responsibility for the development of appropriate behavior of students within the school setting by establishing and maintaining effective discipline and management procedures.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Coordinate instructional activities and collaborate with other professional staff both school and non-school-based, as required to maximize learning opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Vocal Music Education or eligible for a conditional certification in music (music major or at least 24 credits in music courses)
  • Licensure: Valid standard professional educator license in Vocal Music Education
  • Skills: Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills
  • Experience: Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of grade level(s) or instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned
