Instructor Job Description:Position Overview:
This position is integral to the Medical Billing and Coding program within the Continuing Education and Workforce Development sector. The instructor plays a crucial role in equipping students for the AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) examinations through effective classroom and online teaching methodologies. Instructors evaluate student performance through diverse assessment techniques to ensure alignment with course goals and skill acquisition.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary duties encompass:
- Delivering structured educational sessions that fulfill the learning objectives set forth in the AAPC curriculum
- Facilitating student engagement with the AAPC course materials through both in-person and virtual instruction
- Maintaining open lines of communication via electronic means to assist students with course-related inquiries
- Evaluating student progress and providing constructive feedback
- Preparing students for AAPC Certification assessments
- Fostering professional relationships with students, peers, and the broader community
- Committing to ongoing professional development to remain updated in the field
Minimum Required Qualifications:
1. At least 5 years of experience in medical billing and coding or related instructional roles
2. Possession of CPB (for medical billing instruction) and CPC and CPC-I certifications (for medical coding instruction)
Preferred Qualifications:
1. An associate degree or higher
2. Prior experience in teaching (either in classroom settings or corporate training environments)
3. Familiarity with Blackboard LMS and presentation software
4. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
5. Capacity to connect with a diverse student population
