Job Opportunity at Smithfield Foods

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our refrigeration systems and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine audits and equipment inspections to ensure compliance with food safety and good manufacturing practices.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on refrigeration equipment, including ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Work collaboratively with the operations team to plan and conduct equipment repairs.
  • Develop and implement predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in refrigeration technology.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or a related field.
  • RETA certification and comprehensive knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, engine and boiler systems, and electrical and motor controls.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds, with regular lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment

The work environment at Smithfield Foods is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on safety and quality. You will be working in a plant environment with wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and exposure to chemicals and airborne particles.
