Job Overview:

The Cashier plays a vital role in customer interactions, providing assistance and information regarding pricing, accepted materials, and payment processes for incoming materials. This position is essential in ensuring compliance with the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage with customers to clarify inquiries related to pricing and services.
  2. Process payments through cash or check and issue receipts or change as necessary.
  3. Maintain a thorough understanding of basic mathematics and computer operations to enhance customer service.
  4. Ensure adherence to all safety and environmental regulations.
  5. Assist customers with material pricing inquiries and maintain regular communication to foster excellent service.
  6. Document all purchasing transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  7. Track and reconcile financial transactions, including purchases and accounts payable.
  8. Provide administrative support to the Accounting and Finance departments.

Additional Responsibilities:

May include backup operations for Truck Scale, such as:

  1. Evaluating incoming products and directing customers for unloading.
  2. Operating scales to determine weights and calculating payment totals.

Qualifications:

A High School diploma or GED is preferred, along with 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar role or within the scrap industry. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build constructive relationships with customers and colleagues are essential. Candidates should possess mathematical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
