Job Summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a skilled High Voltage Electrician to join our team. As a key member of our electrical maintenance team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing high-voltage electrical equipment, including meters, relays, and control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, test, adjust, repair, and replace protection and control equipment used in high-voltage generation plants, transmission, and distribution substations.
  • Use computers extensively to communicate with substation equipment and operate test gear.
  • Accurately complete maintenance and commissioning forms and submit them to the appropriate company departments.
  • Routinely operate substation equipment and perform substation switching and grounding as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift and move heavy objects exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for tools, computer, test equipment, and vehicles assigned to them.

Requirements
  • A High School Diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of a required written examination reflective of AC and DC electrical theory.
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to acquire a Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Ability to understand and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow safety rules and use PPE's appropriate for work being performed.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in electrical construction or maintenance in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Experience in installation and troubleshooting of motor controls and process instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical installations safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and use electrical schematics.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and ability to use programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
  • A state-issued Journeyman Electrician's license.
  • A college or trade school degree or certificate in the electrical field with applicable hands-on experience.
  • Military experience in the electrical field with applicable hands-on experience.
  • Experience in the electrical utility industry or applicable high-voltage experience.
  • Department of Motor Vehicles CMV (Medical Card)
