Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bus Driver to join our team at Rockingham County Schools. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring their well-being and safety throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedules, adhering to all traffic laws and school bus regulations.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Maintain discipline of students assigned to ride the bus, establishing a clear and consistent plan for behavior management.
  • Report any incidents or accidents to the Zone Transportation Supervisor, following all required procedures.
  • Complete all necessary reports and paperwork, including time cards and incident reports.
Requirements
  • Valid North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with school bus certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with some experience driving large vehicles and transporting humans preferred.
  • Ability to physically inspect the bus, detect and report mechanical defects, and maintain a clean and safe environment for students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school personnel.
