Unlock the Power of Signal Processing

We are seeking a highly skilled Signal Processing Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing innovative technology applications for the next generation of electronic warfare systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop novel concepts to defeat enemy radar and communication systems, leveraging a multitude of sub-disciplines in the signal processing field.
  • Study current and future radar and communication systems, evaluating their performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Participate in the end-to-end modeling and performance evaluation of new systems being designed, ensuring they meet the required standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype new concepts and bring them to life.
  • Brief sponsors and internal APL staff on project progress and results.
Requirements:
  • Possess a Master's degree in engineering with a concentration in signal processing or a related field.
  • Have at least five years of relevant experience in signal processing design and analysis.
  • Be proficient in MATLAB or Python programming languages.
  • Have taken coursework in estimation and detection theory, communication systems, statistical signal processing, or equivalent.
  • Be able to obtain an Interim Secret level clearance by your start date and ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possess a Ph.D. in signal processing, estimation theory, or a related field.
  • Have at least ten years of experience in the signal processing field.
  • Have experience with field testing, software-defined radios, Xilinx System Generator, or MATLAB HDL Coder.
  • Have experience modeling interferometry, space-time adaptive processing, synthetic aperture radar, clutter, or trackers, and C++ experience.
  • Have experience leading small technical teams and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Currently hold an active security clearance.
