Job Overview

Vets Hired is seeking a highly motivated Senior Computational Biologist to join our dynamic interdisciplinary team. As a key member of the cancer genomics research group, you will develop and apply analytical methods to advance genomic research and improve patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computational biology, bioinformatics, or computer science, with expertise in software development, data analysis, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Software Development: Design and implement software solutions to address complex problems in single-cell genomics research.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze large-scale sequencing datasets to identify novel patterns and relationships, informing clinically relevant research questions.
  • Troubleshooting: Develop and apply critical thinking skills to resolve issues with new analytical methods and ensure high-quality results.
  • Research and Application: Stay up-to-date with emerging developments in computational biology and apply them to large-scale datasets to drive scientific discovery.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with researchers to design and execute studies, interpret results, and publish findings.
  • Training: Mentor junior analysts in best practices for running pipelines, performing quality control, and routine analyses.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Computer Science with a focus on molecular biology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Linux and programming languages like Python or R.
    • Familiarity with high-throughput sequence data is advantageous.
    • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Portfolio: Showcase coding skills through a code sample or portfolio.
