Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our team at the United States Fleet Forces Command. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in developing Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and Technical Documentation Packages (TDPs) using additive manufacturing techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop CAD models and TDPs using CAD/CAM software and slicing software.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and technical data to determine the feasibility of manufacturing using additive manufacturing techniques.
  • Prepare drawings and operator instructions for 3D printing and other fabrication tools.
  • Advise design engineers and process planners on the capabilities and limitations of rapid prototyping and 3D printing.
  • Operate and maintain prototyping equipment, including CNC machines, 3D printers, and laser cutters.
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspection results and report any issues to the engineering team.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-10 grade level or equivalent in the Federal service or private sector. Your resume must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of CAD modeling practices and programs, including Solid Edge, Solidworks, AutoCAD, and Inventor.

You will also need to have experience designing complex components made from metals, plastics, composites, or resins using various manufacturing processes and equipment. Additionally, you should be proficient in using CAD/CAM software, slicing software, and post-processing techniques for 3D printed parts.

Experience with 3D scanning hardware and software, as well as geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T), is also highly desirable. If you have experience communicating technical expertise to management officials and working independently to plan, organize, and establish priorities on assignments of substantial variety and complexity, you will be well-suited for this role.
