Job Summary

Civista Bank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mortgage Lender to join our team. As a key member of our lending team, you will be responsible for originating first mortgage loans, promoting the Bank's lending services, and identifying and serving the community's financial needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to solicit first mortgage and home equity loans through referral partners, community activities, and organizations.
  • Meet with customers and prospective customers at various locations to discuss loan options and provide expert advice.
  • Complete loan applications and pre-processing functions, ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained from prospective clients.
  • Inform clients of the Bank's underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.
  • Screen loan requests based on Bank policies and types of loans offered.
  • Propose and review various loan options with clients, ensuring they understand their financial options.
  • Stay up-to-date on new legislation and regulations affecting residential lending policies, ensuring compliance and advising senior management as needed.
  • Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and communicate complex approvals or denials to clients.
  • Distribute market data, rate flyers, and general loan information to the real estate community as directed by Bank management.
  • Promote and participate in the Bank's special credit programs and CRA initiatives.
  • Maintain close contact with local builders, real estate brokers, agents, customers, and prospects, actively participating in local business and community activities.
Requirements
  • Five+ years of mortgage lending experience in a financial institution or loan office setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance, or three years of equivalent work experience.
  • Above-average knowledge of banking industry practices, policies, regulations, and laws related to mortgage lending.
  • Solid working knowledge of Bank compliance requirements and Fair Lending laws and regulations.
  • Solid computer literacy, with accurate data entry skills and proficiency in using specific software required for the position.
  • A high level of initiative, thoroughness, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • High level of confidentiality required.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with varied deadlines.
Work Environment

This position requires frequent travel to solicit loans and meet with clients. Work involves eye strain due to computer screen use, reading reports, and completing documents. The position also requires the ability to concentrate in distracting work conditions and involves lifting and moving loan files up to 15 lbs. Some travel is required to attend meetings, trainings, and real estate office visits.
