About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Resident Director to join our team at Stanford University. As a key member of our Residential Education department, you will be responsible for leading and managing programs and functions under minimal supervision. This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff, and to contribute to the development of a vibrant and inclusive campus community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage programs and functions under minimal supervision
  • Administer, implement, and interpret university and department policies and procedures
  • Identify, clarify, and resolve complex issues with substantial significance and impact
  • Work on problems of diverse complexity, analyzing data and evaluating identifiable factors
  • Network with senior internal and external contacts in own area of expertise and outside own area of expertise
  • Collaborate with others to develop integrated learning experiences in the student residences
  • Resolve multi-dimensional matters in response to students in crisis, at risk, or who have other program issues
  • Provide guidance and counsel to students, as well as advise and develop a wide range of programs and services
  • Develop and implement plans for outreach efforts, develop and maintain external community and university liaison relationships
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management
  • Advanced analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion self-knowledge, development, and professional practices
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by and proven ability to work with a diverse population of students, with demonstrated knowledge of issues around class, identity, and intersectionality
  • Proven ability to interact with a diverse population of faculty, staff, alumni, and families
  • Capacity for addressing campus safety, emergency response, mental health, case management, and student conduct
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience
  • Understanding of financial transactions
  • Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations
