Job Description

Willamalane Park and Recreation District is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Activity Leader in our School Age Programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and supervising children in a variety of recreation activities, developing and recommending program activities and projects, and ensuring the safety of children participating in the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor participant safety with various measures including attendance taking, active supervision, and frequent head counts.
  • Supervise and assist children in recreation activities such as games, songs, educational activities, arts and crafts projects, and special events.
  • Recommend program activities and projects to the Program Leader and Recreation Coordinator.
  • Assist with serving snacks and perform necessary cleanup.
  • Respond to behavior concerns and implement PBIS strategies.
  • Administer first aid and respond to emergencies as required.
  • Prepare the site, set up supplies and equipment for activities, and perform necessary cleanup.
  • Respond to questions from parents and keep them informed regarding their child's progress and achievements.
  • Adhere to the daily program schedule.
  • Routine cleaning and sanitization of the recreation program site and supplies.
  • Complete paperwork as required.
  • Report cases of suspected child abuse to the supervisor and contact the Department of Human Services as necessary.

Requirements:

  • High school graduation or equivalency and one year of experience working with children.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain current first aid and CPR certificates.
  • Possession of and ability to obtain a current Oregon Food Handler Permit.
  • Possession or ability to obtain Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Certification (RRCAN) and Introduction to Childcare Health and Safety Certification (ICCHS).
