About the Role

DCI Donor Services is seeking a highly skilled Organ Recovery Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in the clinical, operational, and research activities of our company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surgical Recovery of Organs: You will be responsible for surgically recovering abdominal organs for transplantation and research in donor hospitals throughout our service area.
  • On-Call Responsibilities: You will assume on-call responsibilities as required to ensure adequate coverage for donor activity and must be available to surgically recover organs at the specified time.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: You will support compliance to CMS and UNOS regulations and AOPO standards and/or other medical/legal requirements.
  • Education and Training: You will provide education and training to OPO staff and hospital personnel involved in the donation process.
  • Advisor Role: You will serve as an advisor between the organization and hospital staff when organ procurement is in progress.
Requirements
  • Medical Qualifications: You must be a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified in general surgery with a current licensure.
  • Experience: You must have 5+ years of experience in organ recovery and transplantation, medical management of organ donors, and/or in critical care.
  • Availability: You must be available for weekdays and weekends of donor recovery call (number of call days to be determined).
  • Interpersonal Skills: You must have well-developed interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact with all management, supervisors, and staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also required.
